Winter

Why did my snowman melt?

Writing: what caused my snowman to melt. This could easily be turned into a word wall..writing wall..all you would need to do is replace the bowl with a plate for the face.

In this project, students will get a white bowl that they can decorate with black squares, an orange carrot nose, and even some sunglasses! Then they will get a white "puddle" piece of paper with lines to write a fun story about how their snowman melted. They can talk about all different reasons, tell a story, be scientific about it, or just have fun with it! Easy and fun idea to end the winter blues and welcome spring!

Enjoy!

Let it snow!

Who doesn't remember making paper snowflakes? Everyone loves this idea, and I think it's a great way to decorate the classroom. This particular template shows you how to use coffee filters to make specific snowflakes. Follow the link under the picture for specific instructions on how to make each one! They're so beautiful, and when the kids make them -just like with real snowflakes- no two will be the same.

Enjoy!

Polar Bear Fun

To create this adorable guy, simply get some paper plates, shaving cream, wiggle eyes (bigger ones work best), big black pom pom or construction paper circle, circular cleaning pads (available at Dollar Tree)

Something for January, since Christmas is done, but there is still snow!

Cover the plate with shaving cream being sure to add texture as the fur. This is the fun part so don't be afraid to get messy! When the shaving cream dries, add the wiggle eyes, nose, and cleaning pads for ears. Gluing these on with a hot glue gun works best. Be sure that the shaving cream is fully dry before gluing.

Enjoy!
